Chalet Espen is a characterful ski chalet located in the beautiful mountain resort of Engelberg, in the heart of the Swiss Alps.
The original chalet building is one of the oldest in Engelberg, dating back to the 1700s. The chalet was extended in the last century and we have recently renovated and refurbished it to a very high standard.
We normally accommodate up to 14 adult guests, although there are two additional bedrooms for larger groups of up to 18. Children are welcome and we are open throughout the year. We offer half board accommodation in the winter (breakfast, afternoon tea and 4 course evening meal), and bed and breakfast or half board in the summer.

Chalet Espen is located close to the main cable car station in Engelberg, with beautiful views all around.
Engelberg itself is one of Switzerland's oldest mountain resorts, having been founded by Benedictine monks in 1120. The resort has fantastic winter and summer facilities and English is widely spoken.
Engelberg's location in the centre of Switzerland makes it easily accessible from both Zurich airport (BA, Swiss and others) and Basle (Easyjet). Road links are excellent and you can even travel to Engelberg by train from Zurich airport, which is very popular.
Engelberg is also an excellent base for exploring further afield, not least the beautiful lakeside city of Lucerne which is just a short train ride or 20 minute drive away.

There are six double bedrooms with modern en-suite bathrooms as well as a single bedroom in the newer part of the chalet. We also have a childrens room and further single bedroom in the older part of the chalet, which share a bathroom. Two of the bedrooms have balconies and all of the rooms are extremely comfortable, light and bright with fabulous mountain views.
Best of all, on the ground floor we have the original dining room or "stübli" which has changed little over the years and is very atmospheric, as well as a spacious and luxurious lounge with cosy log fire for relaxing in at the end of the day.
Outside we have a large garden and parking area, and lots of space for storing skis, bikes and other sporting equipment.
